Something you definitely don’t want to do as a MedSpa owner is overlook the importance of a successful initial consultation with a prospective patient. The first consultation is your first impression and if it doesn’t go well, that patient may choose to not purchase with you. You want to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
So, what are the elements of a perfect consultation? Here is part 2.
Preparing Your Presentation
The initial consultation you give a prospective patient could potentially be the determining factor in whether or not they decide to purchase the treatment, so you want to make sure to give a thorough and enjoyable consultation.
Preparing your presentation is an incredibly important step in readying yourself for consultations because it can help you present a stronger consultation for the patient.
By practicing what you’re going to say, having a list of talking points to go by, and being aware of the most frequently asked questions, you’ll be less likely to stumble over your words or get caught with a question you don’t know how to answer.
Describe the Process
It’s really important to give the patient a detailed breakdown of what the process of their treatment is going to look like. This is beneficial for a number of reasons.
For one thing, this will help the patient feel as comfortable as possible because they will know what to expect. Many people feel anxiety around any kind of aesthetic treatment so if they know how everything works walking without any surprises, they are likely to be more relaxed throughout the entire treatment.
This also helps clear up any confusion. Often times, treatments require things from the patient whether it’s that they wear a certain clothing to the treatment, come with a clean face, come with ample time between aesthetic treatments, etc. If the patient knows everything that is required of them, if anything, this will avoid any awkward situations on the day of the treatment and the patient will come prepared with whatever they need.
Be Confident Without Being Perfect
Even if you have a great checklist of talking points, have given the consultation many times, and remember most of everything that you say during, don’t feel pressure to make every consultation exactly alike. Chances are, there will be some patients that ask questions you’ve never heard before or have concerns or interests that somewhat derail a rehearsed speech.
So, feel confident enough in your knowledge of the treatment that you can give equally informative consultations without them all being exactly the same.
Sealing the Deal
The thing is, people tend to purchase with providers that they feel comfortable around and that they feel are experienced and knowledgable. Giving a top-notch consultation will prove to them that that is exactly what you are.
