Things might not always work out when it comes to working with a marketing agency, we get it. As one, and as business owners, we are saddened by the stories we hear from both sides. Which is why in this episode, we go through a list of things you, as a MedSpa owner should take into consideration when looking to hire a Marketing Agency.
Come in with a Plan and a Goal in Mind
Do your homework first! What is it that you want to accomplish with marketing? Be as specific as you can. Something like “I want to grow my business” is very vague. What within your business do you want to grow?
Make sure to define your goal. Because, if you do not have a plan, you will fall into someone else’s plan.
It is in that first discovery call that you should be talking about what you have done in the past, what has worked and what hasn’t, the challenges you’ve faced. But in case, you do not know the answers yet, your marketing agency should ask you these questions and help you figure out what are the goals for your marketing.
Work with someone who specializes in the industry
A niche specific marketing agency has a head start because they’ve tested things within the industry. They know what works, what doesn’t, and what to look for when it comes to making changes.
They are constantly doing research and emerging themselves in the latest technology, news and overall understand the industry and your business.
Another good point under this is to find an agency that specializes in the services you need. Maybe you are needing to re-brand or build a new website. Maybe you need some social media services as well. What can your marketing agency provide for you and what is it that your business needs.
Work with someone who partners with you
Working with someone who you trust is imperative to making sure your relationship with them lasts. You already did all this research and want to work with someone who knows your business and cares for it for a long time. So making sure that you like them, and that they have the same values and mission as you, can help build that relationship with them and make communication easier.
Marketing is a lot about testing and it might take some time and money. Which is why having someone you trust and like will also make this process a lot less stressful.
Another thing we suggest is having a strategic partner that you can work with full-cycle throughout the marketing funnel. Going from generating a prospect, scheduling a patient and closing them. Work with someone who has a really good understanding of these three phases and can help you implement systems in your business for these three phases.
Ask for case studies, results and references
You want to see what type of results they’ve gotten with other businesses like yours. That way you will know that when you bring that company on to work with yours, that they are giving you the best service. It is like hiring someone and asking them for their CV and their references. Don’t shy away from asking for some results and people they are currently working with.
Look at your contracts
Sometimes contracts can feel very daunting and final. Almost like you can’t escape. But contracts should make things easier. It should be a written document of your goals and how those are going to be met. Make sure you communicate thoroughly with your marketing agency so that expectations can be met. And when you get that contract, make sure you read your agreement so that there are no surprises later.
Make sure to listen to the entire episode to hear more about what you should be looking for when hiring a marketing agency for your med spa.
